The Changing U.S. Refining Landscape: COVID 19 and Beyond
This look at the mid-year refining landscape focused upon The COVID-19 demand cliff and recovery and the impacts on crude slate and quality. With the unprecedented decline in demand for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel, Robert looked at the short and long term recovery prospects, before pointing out many changes in the heavy crude supply, US refining slates, and overseas developments in Latin America and West Africa.
Hillary Stevenson, Wood MacKenzie

Hillary detailed current production, inventories, and transportation flows in each of Canada, Cushing, Texas, and Louisiana. Seeing some decline in Canadian production and flow to the United States, she then showed how imports are making up for the gap and changing the quality of the overall crude slates. Finally, she looked at the potential for Hurricane season to provide further disruption in 2020.
