Turning Point Blog Highlights WTI/Domestic Sweet Quality Monitoring Work

by Dennis Sutton | Jun 21, 2017

For many years, the Crude Oil Quality Association (COQA) has been working to develop more comprehensive specifications for WTI and provide greater transparency in the communication of the quality characteristics of WTI and domestic sweet.

The June 20 Turning Point blog, titled “I Can See Clearly Now- WTI Quality Characteristics Now Available!”, published by Turner, Mason & Company, features a summary of this work and the path forward. It can be accessed HERE.

Both historical and current quality data are now available on the new web site, www.crudemonitor.us. Data for all of the COQA recommended specs, including API gravity, sulfur, metals (nickel and vanadium), TAN, and three boiling range parameters from HTSD can be viewed. While improvements in the reporting continue, the format, familiar to many from evaluating Canadian crudes on www.crudemonitor.ca, provides both tabular and graphical presentations of this valuable information.
