Mitigation, cost, underlying causes are discussed.  The Incident Tracking Master is available to all.  If you wish to share a Crude Oil Quality incident,  please contact  Harry N. Giles, COQA  Director,  dir.COQA@verizon.net , for posting.  All information will be kept confidential to the extent requested.

The COQA Mission statement clearly states our intention to be a forum for open communication.  To that end, we have instituted this forum page.  You are invited to share any quality issues or general interest topics.  To have a message posted to the forum, send an Email to Harry N. Giles, COQA Director, at dir.COQA@verizon.net. You may also telephone Harry at +1 (703) 282-2461.

November 2005
Recent data shows some LLS batches to be off spec on distillation. The gravity is fairly constant so just checking gravity and sulfur would not show that an issue exists.  Indications are that heavy material is being blended into the LLS stream.

June 2003
A question has been raised about increased chlorides in Gulf Coast domestic crudes.  Anyone  experiencing this same problem or having knowledge or background should please contact the COQA facilitator

Request from Ron Fisher  -  BP

Zuata Sweet Syncrude: Has anyone with experience refining this had any
issues with catalyst poisoning from the naphtha nitrogen? We have not run
this crude yet but have a concern about this since some of this naphtha has
already been hydrotreated.
Thanks.

Comments from Michael Czeskleba Marathon Ashland Petroleum:
Tish, I thought that I should touch base with you and let you know that
I really enjoyed our last COQA Conference on 09/27/01. I especially
enjoyed the panel discussion; I applaud Aaron Dillard for suggesting it.
We should definitely continue this panel discussion at future meetings,
but we might want to consider rotating a panelist or two to keep the
discussion lively. Alternatively, perhaps you might add one or more
panelists to broaden the discussion and extend the time a tad. It
certainly promotes interaction with the attendees.

Response:  Our intention is to end each year with a
Panel Discussion.  This will help set the stage for the upcoming year and
ensure that we stay focused on the latest issues .
